Happy Halloween!!! blue skies, 70 degrees and sunny in Kirksville - the perfect day for a family outing.

I have to give Ryan a lot of credit for being such a good sport all the time - he will humor me in whatever activities I want to do (he even took me to Phantom of the Opera in Las Vegas in my wedding dress last year! Now I've gotten to wear it 3 times and the price per wear is a little more reasonable)
Anyway this was not so extreme and we had so much fun! So here's the story... Ryan and I both experienced the worst dates of our lives in corn mazes. Since we started dating each other we've been meaning to redeem corn mazes by doing one together and the good news is - we did it! and it only took us 6 years to do it - I think Bel made it a little more exciting too.

We all had to dress up of course - afterall what is Halloween in regular clothes??? Here we are, a boy scout, a ghost and me in my favorite overalls (farmer / train conductor / cowboy - take your pick).
The corn maze was a train theme with train trivia questions throughout and when you got half way there was a whistle stop - what a thrill!
Going strong...
My favorite part of the whole outing was the huge straw pile - mmm totally irresistible - Bel is too young to enjoy it and Ryan is too mature, so somebody had to get our money's worth out of the deal - I really was obligated to take advantage. (sorry this video is a kind of long and a little embarassing)

We also enjoyed walking through a riddle of a hay bale maze, shooting a corn cannon and talking to the locals, all with no violent flashbacks to past nightmarish experiences. I'd say it was a smashing success.

Meet Belén the friendly ghost...

...and her happy goose gourd.

I carved a big pumpkin a week ago at Mandy's, which promptly froze the first night and rotted the next day - so here is the miniature version of the first one. (same candle though - thanks mandy we didn't have any here)

oh my goodness, lovin' the videos. Love Bel, but her mom is just as entertaining!! I had no idea you wore your wedding dress to phantom of the opera, what did Ryan wear?! Oh, my, between that and the approach to the hay pile, now I can go about my morning chores with a smile on my face.
ryan looked equally smashing in his brown suit. It was funny - we had at least 10 strangers congratulate us as we walked to and from the show. PS abs you are up way too early, you must be a mother
Christine you crack me up! I can't help but have a nice little giggle every time I look at your blog. You're good for my soul. I wish we could have come to play for halloween. We were so tired and boring..we made bean dip and went to bed at 9:30 or something like that. I need lessons on how to like halloween more and how to make it more fun! All 3 of you were adorable, cutest family!
I was looking at your pictures before I read all the captions... so I see you wearing the cowboy hat, and think "Only Christine would wear that and come out looking completely amazing. But, wait... what's with the overalls too? And WHAT ON EARTH is Ryan wearing a boy scout uniform for?" Oops... it's Halloween.
You guys are so fun. Check out the e-mail I sent you today...
Bel! Her first halloween so cute! I love it. You do such a great job at updating the blog. Keep it up.
So cute and so fun
Oh my sweet Iowa family - what better place to do a corn maze redemption than corn country! Love the videos and photos. I was really missing the Mr and Mrs pumpkin head on my porch this year. Did they move to Iowa too????
Woops I just realized that you don't live in Iowa, but Missouri - I guess its all corn country though right??? I will try to get it right next time
HAHA! I didn't notice you were wearing costumes at first and I thought "Ryan is so weird, is he wearing a boy scout shirt?"
Then.... I read on. So fun! I love the videos. I am excited to see you guys soon!
Love the outfits!!! I remember you getting that cowboy hat and thought back then how cute it looked on you. WOW Ryan went way out on his outfit. Wearing his scout uniform is good because he is getting his $$$ worth each time he wears it. What a fun family you are and I am so lucky to call you mine! Love you Grandma Cindy
Oh I need to squeeze those little cheekies so bad I can hardly stand it!
I do believe that Ryan knew what he was getting into when he married you. You had him dressing up way back in the treehouse days with all the girls. Bel is the absolute cutest ghost-and you well, you are just the same old Christine, but the fun Mom version.
Oh I forgot to ask, were there any Farmer blows with you dressed up that way. Seems a little more appropriate than on a ski hill. Love ya
Christine,
I want you to know how much we appreciate your efforts keeping this blog going. It is always fun to see the new pictures and catch up on details that pass so quickly in your lives. Bel is so funny when she scrunches her nose. Got to love her. Grandpa Ned
I'm jealous of that good weather you are getting, but I guess it just means snowboarding season is around the corner. That horn thing in your corn maze made me laugh out loud!
I love your posts! Keep them coming!
