the moment we've all been waiting for

We knew that one of these days Bel would realize that she was just holding on to our fingers for fun and today was that day!

Bel and I were taking one of our daily strolls around the neighborhood and Bel paused to drum on a manhole lid (behind our house - not in the middle of the street) Then she stood up and walked away without even thinking about it. I went screaming giddily to the house for Ryan to come join us and when he came out she walked straight to him and gave him a big hug. We had so much fun getting her all tuckered out - it was a beautiful thing!

(Note: I dropped my camera a while back and now it shakes whenever it is on. Ryan pointed out that it's just like the old fashioned crank cameras that drown out all other sounds - so my apologies for the low quality cinematography.)

Crawling is still her main form of locomotion but I'm pretty sure she'll be coming around to the idea of walking full time and her lazy mom will be busy keeping her out of the street. Three cheers for our big little girl!

Oh I'm so happy Bel got over her fears! She is the cutest little walker! Can't wait to see her walk in person. I am SO glad you guys are OK and didn't suffer any major damage during the tornado. Love ya!

Yeah Bel! I love watching my kids learn new things. Isn't it the best? It's like your love for them grows, and you didn't know it could.

Wow Bel, It's a huge moment in the parents life when the bonds of gravity are broken and the bird is released from the cage. Now that freedom has been handed to you -- enjoy it. To the parents, now is the time to child-proof your house and install the deadbolts on the outside doors. Love you

YAY! Go Bel go! I love the first video (how she sticks out her tongue) maybe that was the missing "piece" all along, sticking out the tongue always helps...just ask my boys! Way to go Belén!!!

WAhoo sweet Belen!!! I have watched these so many times I have every step and sound memorized. It makes me so sad for your own grandparents, that in the days you were figuring out these milestones, we didn't film anything. Those sweet moments just melted into the stratosphere. Way to record it. It would be better to be there, but this is a great consolation prize! Thanks

good grief just when I think you won't be posting anything for a few days I miss the first steps. Man, she was dangerously close on that visit a couple weeks ago, SO glad Ryan could be there to partake in the joy, although it would have given Uncle Andy the ultimate revenge for the Twilight scandal.
