the bitter and the sweet

every time a chapter of my life comes to a close I am never ready for it to be over - never ready to say goodbye, to deal with change, to leave familiarity and venture into the unknown, never ready to move on. it's been said that "'the only constant is change" and that seems to be true.
as I've anticipated our move for the last month or so I've been feeling super nostalgic, feeling and knowing that I am doing everything for the last time, saying farewell to the people, places and things that we've loved so much these past two years. Kirksville has truly won a special place in my heart, and as I sit here writing this on the couch 700 miles away, I can't help but get a little choked up seeing our home in my mind's eye and missing so badly our soggy lawn, free swimming pool, the clean organized HyVee, our charming neighbors and dear friends just blocks away in every direction. I can't stand knowing that I'll never ride my bike to the lake again or attend an SAA activity or belong to the Kirksville 2nd ward.

but I'm lucky that in this life scenario the bitter and the sweet come together, and in the few short days that we've been Ohio we have found more than enough sweetness to call it home.
I know it will be a while before we are really settled and honestly I don't mind one bit. I already have a long list of valuable lessons learned, our little family has grown closer together and I look forward to all the adventures we'll continue to have.

It is hard not to love a place where your family has grown so much. I am sure Ohio will be sweet as well. When you take the people you love with you it just can't be too bad. I can't wait to visit you in your new digs.

Wow, you guys are always changing! Love the new house and all the trees! Is that fire pit in the backyard? I know what you mean about change, I almost just moved houses in the valley and it almost killed me! I can't imagine moving to a new state! You always take everything in stride though so I know this will be no different. Keep us updated.

Thanks for letting us be apart of your lives like you do! I HATE it when you move farther away from Utah each time. Poor Susie she just keeps on going & going! Everytime Ned would look in the rear view mirrors he would say " I have is old grey Subaru that keeps following me!"
You live in a wonderful area and house----with lots of fire flies!! When ever you see one glowing think of me blowing xoxox your way

aren't changes hard & exciting at the same time? I know just how you feel.

We met the Jensen's who said they know you guys from Missouri...they are in our ward. You guys should've moved here too!!

Aaah, but the great thing about you guys is that you take the sweetness with you. How could you not be happy in your new place with your amazingly sunny outlook on life. And can I just say again how glad I am that our paths intersected for a minute there...I can't believe you are that much farther away now...but I will savor the sweetness.

I had completely lost track of time, and didn't realize you were at that stage already! I'm excited for you guys. What city are you in? I think you are actually closer to me now - maybe we can meet half-way sometime and hang out ;) I'd love to see you!

Wow, don't know why I just got choked up reading that... must be the pregnancy hormones. I love the way you write things down and the way you express yourself. Wish I could drive to you.... Enjoy the new adventures!!!

Totally missing you guys. You found a beautiful looking new house though. I have to admit that I'm jealous. I would have been super excited to move into something like that:)

Hope you're doing well. Miss you lots.

man Christine nobody says it quite as well as you do!
We sure do miss seeing you guys! Sweet little Bel's name has been mentioned more than a few times of "friends I already miss from Kirksville" by Noah!
You guys are great friends and I'm just waiting for you to take a temple trip, (which is literally like 8 minutes from our house) and leave your cute little ones for us to play with!
