Letting go of control is definitely in the top three hardest things about being a parent. At least for now I control mostly what my kids wear and eat, when and how much they sleep, what they watch on tv, the language and music they hear and the things they learn, but every now and then I have to let go.
Jack, for instance, loves making messes - today he reached and whined and sprinted for this puddle repeatedly until finally I let him have at it, and what do you know... It was super rewarding for all parties involved. I should probably let go in the mess department a little more often.

Looks like Jack's vision of a good time was right on-everyone's smiling and having fun.Although I did notice that it's only Jack's butt in the puddle. If I was younger-a LOT younger-I might try that. At my age it would only be embaressment extreme to go around with a wet bottom. Miss you all!
Oh yeah.... good battle for Jack to win. I have been sitting in dirt myself for the last few days and I can tell you, it is extremely rewarding, if not too productive
Oh, I am having the same issues. Sand at the beach that gets in the car and car seat and all over my floors that you can feel for weeks on bare feet... it drives me crazy!!! But the boys love it.
